Abstract
ObjectivesTo evaluate the relationship between the duration of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and thrombotic diseases by using the thrombi embolism risk prediction of the CHA2DS2-VASc scoring system for patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation primarily.
MethodsAccording to the duration of atrial fibrillation, the paroxysmal atrial fibrillation patients were divided into two groups(A group, n=52; B group, n=81), the occurrence of the thrombotic diseases was observed and the CHA2DS2-VASc score was evaluated. The study compared the difference between the two groups which had different scores(CHADS2score and CHA2DS2-VASc score).
ResultsShorter time(48 hours or less)atrial fibrillation attack could form thrombosis or result in thrombosis diseases as longer time(P=0.493). There were 5(9.62%)patients and 11(13.58%)patients with thrombosis disease in A group and B group respectively. The result of any kinds of scores system in the two groups had no deference(0.37±0.69 vs.0.69±1.22, P=0.082; 1.21±1.19 vs.1.17±1.37, P=0.867).
ConclusionAtrial fibrillation attack less than 48 hours maybe contribute to thrombosis. The thrombi embolism tendency prediction value of CHA2DS2-VASc scoring system for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation needs to be further evaluated.
