Formulating competency model for rear medical students, innovating the model of talent training

Abstract
With the launching of healthcare system reform in China, medical colleges have been experiencing the increasing pressure to reform the education they provide. It has become both an urgent and important task for these institutions to deepen educational reform and meet the challenge of developing medical talents for health service in the 21st century. In the spirit of the excellent doctor program, this paper focuses on the educational reform for students majoring in clinical medicine at Anhui Medical University, studying the key factors for professional competency development in clinical doctors. Nineteen factors categorized into six groups were identified and integrated to innovate the professional training model. The teacher-guided student-oriented mode was proposed to enhance the humanity, morality and ability in medical students. Strengthening professional ethics education, general practice education and clinical practice skills training were taken as breakthrough points, established “the trinity” education mode corresponding to the ”competency” elements which combined value building, ability training and knowledge instructing. Intending to build teaching and learning system of international outlook, China quality, Anhui characteristics and Anhui Medical University style first-rate l. Moreover, A 4 optimizations/ 2 promotions strategy was proposed to cultivate students of sense of social responsibility, innovation spirit, practice ability and humanistic feelings.
