Abstract
ObjectiveTo compile the measuring instrument for Chinese nursing managers to evaluate the first-aid ability of clinical nursing staff.
MethodsBased on the literature review, dimensions and items were studied out by combing with the studies in domestic and abroad, and experts′ demonstration in a small range. The prognostic scale was formed on the basis of early scale by Delphi evaluation, and the formal scale was developed by the way that pretesting 170 clinical nursing staffs. Then using the scale conducted a great sample test, item analysis, reliability and validity for 350 clinical nursing staffs. Eventually, the scale came into being.
ResultsThe measuring instrument for the first-aid ability of clinical nursing staff consisted of 32 items, 8 domains. Its Cronbach′s α coefficient was 0.85, and the split-half reliability was 0.74, with a test-retest reliability of 0.89.
ConclusionsThe scale has a good reliability and validity. It cannot only provide a basis for nursing managers to evaluate the first-aid ability of clinical nursing staff accurately, but also provide a reference for clinical training.
