Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the ambulation time in elderly patients with hip fracture and different levels in self-care ability of daily living half a year after operation.
MethodsA convenience sampling method was used to select 141 cases of patients with hip fracture, among all the cases, there were 63 cases of hip replacement, and 78 cases of internal fixation. The ambulation time in elderly patients with hip fracture and different levels in self-care ability of daily living half a year after operation were compared.
ResultsHalf a year after operation, in the cases of hip replacement, 49 cases can take care of themselves, and the average time of ambulation was (41.14±37.20) d; 14 cases can not take care of themselves and the average time of ambulation was (116.71±88.75) d, the difference in two groups was statistically significant (t=3.109, P<0.01). In patients with internal fixation, 43 cases can take care of themselves half a year after surgery, and the average time of ambulation was (75.84±39.68) d; 35 cases can not take care of themselves and the average time of ambulation was (110.49±66.50) d, the difference was statistically significant (t=2.714, P<0.01).
ConclusionsThe much earlier of the ambulation time, the much better for the activities of daily living for elderly patients with hip fracture.
