Abstract
ObjectiveTo explore the characteristics of blood lipids in younger patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH).
MethodsWe collected the blood samples from HICH patients in eight hospitals, and then divided them into either a younger patient group (30-40 years old) or an older patient group (50-60 years old). At the same time, younger and older healthy people were randomly selected as control groups. The levels of total cholesterol (TCH), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C) in blood were examined, and their differences were compared between different groups by t-tests.
ResultsThe levels of TG and HDL-C presented a significant difference between the younger patient and healthy groups [(1.95±1.34) mmol/L vs (1.25±0.63) mmol/L, t=5.40, P<0.001; (1.18±0.45) mmol/L vs (1.34±0.36) mmol/L, t=3.23, P=0.001], and TG level in the younger patient group was significantly higher than that of the older patient group [(1.95±1.34) mmol/L vs (1.43±1.09) mmol/L, t=3.39; P=0.001]. However, the level of HDL-C in the younger patients was significantly lower than that in the older HICH patients [(1.18±0.45) mmol/L vs (1.35±0.38) mmol/L, t=3.30; P=0.001]. Besides, 46.5% of younger HICH patients had abnormal TG levels.
ConclusionAbnormal level of TG or HDL-C is an important risk factor for HICH in younger patients, and monitoring and management of blood lipids such as TG is a promising preventive method against HICH in younger people.
