Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the heat shock protein 90α (Hsp90α) expression and its clinical significance in plasma and cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) of patients who suffer of adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma (ACP).
MethodsAll patients come from Neurosurgery Department of Yuquan Hospital, Tsinghua University since July 2014 to October 2015. Hsp90α were detected from blood plasma and CSF in 14 patients with ACP, 6 patients with glioblastoma (GBM), 6 patients with choroid plexus papilloma (CPP) and 6 patients with cranioplasty (control) respectively by using method of ELISA. After that, Hsp90α values were analyzed, and evaluated the roles in differential diagnosis. The Western blot method was used for verification in plasma test.
ResultsHsp90α levels in plasma and CSF of the patients enrolled are GBMs>ACPs>CPPs=Controls. We reveal that ACP is more aggressive than other benign tumors which belongs to WHO grade Ⅰ. These can be proved by plasma test of Western blot method.
ConclusionHsp90α was not only detected from blood plasma and CSF but also its level whichever in blood plasma and CSF are positively correlated with the malignancy of tumors, particularlly tumor invasion and metastasis. Hsp90α has certain significance in these patient’s blood plasma or CSF that ACP was confirmed to be invasive, or it could contribute to follow-up.
