Abstract
ObjectiveTo study the difference of diet pattern between colorectal cancer patients and healthy volunteer.
MethodsFood Frequency Questionnaire was applied to obtain the diet data of 40 colorectal cancer patients and 72 healthy volunteers. Then daily intake of macronutrients and micronutrients were calculated and compared between the two groups.
ResultsThe energy intake was significantly higher in colorectal cancer patients than the healthy volunteers (Z=-2.836, P=0.005), the intake of protein and carbohydrates in the colorectal cancer patients were also significant high than the healthy (Z=-2.065, P=0.018; Z=-2.368, P=0.039). In addition, colorectal cancer patients also took more carotene, thiamine, riboflavin than healthy volunteers. And after adjustment for age and gender, fat intake with different intake amounts was associated with colorectal cancer (Wald=9.658, P=0.02).
ConclusionThe diet pattern of colorectal cancer patients, which characterized by high intake of energy, protein and fat, was significant different from healthy volunteers. However, in terms of the relationship between fat intake and colorectal cancer risk, it is still needed a large sample size survey.
