MethodsA computerized literature search was carried out for articles in the field of obstetrics and gynecology from mainland China Hong Kong and Taiwan included by SCI with limited time from January 2003 to December 2012. The ISSN (print) was used to achieve journal research. The address search terms used were " China [ad] not Hong Kong [ad] not Taiwan [ad]" , "Hong Kong [ad]" , "Taiwan [ad]" . The average impact factor (IF) of articles published by Hong Kong ranked first(2.751), followed by mainland China (2.571) and Taiwan(2.337). A total number of 1 069 articles from three regions were published in the top 5 high-impact obstetrics and gynecology journals, with 557 articles from mainland China, 159 from Hong Kong, 353 from Taiwan.
