Abstract
ObjectiveTo explore the sedation effect of modified oral chloral hydrate method in children with congenital heart disease by color doppler echocardiography.
MethodsA total of 80 children with congenital heart disease who were admitted to the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Children's Hospital affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from June 2018 to June 2019 and confirmed by cardiac color doppler echocardiography were selected as the study subjects, and randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was sedated with conventional oral chloral hydrate method, while the observation group was sedated with modified oral chloral hydrate method. The effect of sedation was evaluated using the Brussels sedation Scale, and the average time to fall asleep and the incidence of vomiting were recorded.
ResultsAfter sedation by modified oral chloral hydrate method, the effective rate of sedation in the observation group was 97.50%, which was significantly higher than that in the control group (75.00%). The time of falling asleep in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group. The incidence of pediatric vomiting in the observation group was 0.00%, which was significantly lower than that in the control group (12.50%), and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).
ConclusionsModified oral chloral hydrate sedation method can reduce the time to fall asleep and the incidence of vomiting in children with congenital heart disease, thus improving the sedation effect of cardiac color doppler echocardiography.
