Advances on epidemic status of asbestos-related malignant mesothelioma and its early diagnosis

Abstract
Malignant mesothelioma is an aggressive tumor that develops in the parietal pleura or peritoneum, which is strongly associated with asbestos exposure. Asbestos-related malignant mesothelioma is an important public health issue and social issue, which causes great attention worldwide, especially in the developing countries. This article reviews the epidemic status of asbestos-related malignant mesothelioma and its early diagnostic methods, in order to provide a basis for the prevention and therapy of malignant mesothelioma.
