Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the expression and clinical significance of transmembrane-4-L-six-family-1 (TM4SF1) in human glioma.
MethodsThe expression of TM4SF1 protion and CD34 in 98 cases of glioma tissues and 9 cases of normal brain tissues was examined by immunohistochemistry. The correlation of TM4SF1 with clinicopathological parmeters and survival of patients was analyzed statistically.
ResultsTM4SF1 was negatively expressed in normal brain tissues(P=0.000). The total positive expression rate of TM4SF1 in tumor group was 82.65%. There was significant difference in TM4SF1 expression between normal brain tissue and glioma tissue (P=0.000), as well as between high-grade (91.53%) and low-grade (69.23%) tumor tissue (P=0.004). The CD34 monoclonal antibody-labled microvessel density (MVD) in normal brain tissue group and tumor tissue group was 3.625±0.415 and 36.354±7.984. The value had significant difference (P=0.000). The expression average of MVD respectively were 29.078±6.730 and 37.881±7.391 in negative and positive expression of TM4SF1 in glioma tissues, the data had significant difference (P=0.000). Following univariate regression analysis and multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that the expression of TM4SF1 was independent prognostic factors influencing survival(P=0.016).
ConclusionTM4SF1 was related to pathological grade and prognosis of glioma, and may take part in angiogenesis of glioma.
