Abstract
At present, traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the major diseases that threaten human lives and its morbidity is continuously increasing, with high disability rate and mortality rate. With the rapid development of biomedical technology, stem cells transplantation in the treatment of TBI has become a hot topic. In animal experiments and clinical studies, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are the most widely used, and have become the most important seed cells in nerve tissue engineering. In this paper, we reviewed the mechanisms of MSCs transplantation in the treatment of TBI, the transplantation method, the evaluation methods after transplantation and the progress of clinical research.
