The comparative analysis of clinical efficacy of minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy and flexible reteroscope lithtripsy for the management of 2-4 cm renal stones

Abstract
ObjectiveTo evaluate the safety and efficacy of minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy and flexible reteroscope lithtripsy for the management of 2-4 cm renal stones.
MethodsIn the study, 83 patients with renal stones (2-4 cm) underwent operation from February 2018 to December 2018. Among them, 83 patients were untreated with tubeless-mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (TMPCN), and 40 patients were treated with flexible reteroscope lithtripsy (FURS). The age, stone size, operation time, postoperative hospital stay, stone-free rates, and complication rate were analyzed statistically.
ResultsAll patients successfully completed the operation. Compared with the FURS group, the operation time of the TMPCN group was significantly shortened (91.650±12.528, 39.000±7.251, t=18.340, P<0.01), and the stone-free rate was higher (65.000%, 93.023%, χ2=9.990, P<0.01), but the hemoglobin decreased was higher (5.150±1.145, 6.395±1.275, t=7.090, P<0.01); and the difference between two groups in the postoperative hospital stay (3.300±0.966, 3.651±1.110, t=1.520, P>0.05) and complication rate (17.500%, 25.581%, χ2=0.800, P>0.05) were not statistically significant.
ConclusionThe TMPCN has a high success rate for 2-4 cm renal stone, and the operation time and the rate of clear stone are better than FURS.
