Abstract
ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate(HoLEP) in different size of prostatic hyperplasia and anticoagulant (AC) patients.
MethodsThe clinical data of 43 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) were retrospectively analyzed between October 2015 and June 2017. All patients estimated by transrectal ultrasound results were divided into A1 (40 g), A2 (40 g<P<80 g) and A3 (P>80 g). Meanwhile, twenty no AP/AC patients with a similar age, IPSS, prostate weight and hemoglobin were selected from each group. Each group was statistically compared in operation time, removal of weight, duration of Foley catheterization and decreased postoperative hemoglobin values. Improvement of symptoms and incidence of complications were retrospectively analyzed within 12 weeks after surgery.
ResultsThe mean operation time in the AC/AP groups of A1and A3 was 73.58 min and 138.4 min , which was longer than no AC/AP groups as the mean operation time was 64, 65 min and 127.4 min , respectively. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) .Improvement of International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS) and symptoms were evident in each group. No major intraoperative complications were encountered.
ConclusionsHoLEP is a safe and effective procedure for any size prostate, and after long-term anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy, HoLEP is also safe and effective for patients.
