Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of site injection and acupoint block combing physiotherapy versus physiotherapy for Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Methods100 children with Guillain-Barre syndrome treated at our hospital from June, 2012 to June, 2017 were selected for study and divided into two groups using random number table method, 50 cases for each group. After admission, both groups were treated with short-term (2 - 10 days) hormone, vitamin, and coenzyme. After the disease was controlled, the control group was given routine physical therapy. The observation group was given site injection and acupoint block combing physiotherapy. The clinical efficacy, recovery of limb function, and nerve conduction velocity were observed in the two groups. The count data were used chi-square test for analysis and measurement data t-test or F test for analysis.
ResultsThe scores of motor function and sensory disturbance in both groups were significantly increased after treatment (P <0.05), but the increment in the observation group was more obvious (P <0.05). The nerve conduction velocity in both groups increased significantly (P <0.05), but the increment in the observation group increased more significantly (P <0.05). The total improvement rate of the observation group was 98.0%, which was significantly higher than that of the control group (86.0%, P <0.05).
ConclusionSite injection and acupoint block combing physiotherapy for children with Guillain-Barre syndrome can significantly improve the improvement rate and the recovery of limb function and accelerate the nerve conduction velocity.
