Expression of B7-H4 in mDC in patients with tuberculous exudative pleurisy and its correlation with regulatory T cells

Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the expression of costimulatory molecule B7-H4 in serum and pleural effusion of patients with tuberculous exudative pleurisy and its correlation with regulatory T cells.
Methods30 cases of tuberculous exudative pleurisy treated at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Houjie Hospital from August 2016 to August 2017 were selected. 15 healthy cases taking physical examination were examined. S-P immunohistochemical staining (flow cytometry) was used to detect B7-H4 in the patients’ mDC and the healthy examinees’ peripheral blood. The infiltration of Treg cells in serum and hydrothorax of the patients was analyzed.
ResultsThe ratio of B7-H4 in mDC was significantly higher in the patients than in the healthy cases, and was significantly higher in the hydrothorax than in the peripheral blood of the patients. After the treatment, the B7-H4 in mDC decreased in the patients’ peripheral blood, but was still higher in the healthy cases’. In the patients, the expression of B7-H4 positively correlated with Treg cell number.
ConclusionsB7-H4 highly expresses in the hydrothorax and peripheral blood of patients with tubercular exudative pleurisy, positively correlates with the number of Treg cells, and can reflect the immune function state after MTB infection.
