Abstract
Charcot-leyden crystals is a kind of protein crystals formed by galectin-10 released after eosinophil lysis, which mainly exists in the lesion site of chronic rhinosinusitis, asthma, allergic rhinitis and other diseases with Th2 immune cell infiltration, the change of its content can be used as one of the indexes to evaluate the condition. The symptoms of this disease can be alleviated by removing or dissolving the crystal, this discovery provides a new idea for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis. This paper reviews the research history and new progress of Charcot-leydencrystals and its significance in chronic rhinosinusitis.
