Abstract
ObjectiveTo analyze the influencing factors of postpartum depression in elderly parturient women with second children, and to explore the nursing strategies.
MethodsA total of 76 elderly women with postpartum depression who were admitted to our hospital from October, 2018 to October, 2019 were enrolled in the study. Eighty elderly normal pregnant women with second children during the same period were enrolled as control. The influencing factors of postpartum depression were analyzed. The 76 postpartum depression women were divided into a control group and a study group according to the random number method, with 38 cases in each group. The control group were routinely cared, and the study group were cared according to the influencing factors. The Anxiety and Depression Emotion Scale (HAD) and the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS) were used to assess their improvement in depression status.
ResultsThe education level below junior high school, family's per capita income less than 3 000 yuan, poor domestic peace, mother-in-law as a caregiver, and cesarean section were the high risk factors of postpartum depression. Before the nursing care, there were no statistical differences in the scores of HAD and EPDS between these two groups (bothP>0.05). After the nursing care, the scores of HAD and EPDS were lower in the study group than in the control group [(6.47±2.15) vs. (8.52±2.03) and (7.34±1.51) vs. (10.51±1.53); bothP<0.05]. After the nursing intervention, the total incidence of depression was significantly lower in the study group than in the control group (50.00% vs. 73.68%;P<0.05).
ConclusionAfter identifying the high risk factors of postpartum depression in elderly parturient women with second children, it is effective to improve the maternal depression status and ensure maternal health by developing targeted nursing interventions.
