Abstract
Tripartite-motif protein 21(TRIM21) is a kind of ubiquitin ligase that exists in the cytoplasm of the cells. It is also a type of intracellular antibody receptor or sensor, which can provide an innate immunity defense line for cells to resist virus invasion. For viruses, TRIM21 can prevent virus replication and induce antiviral effect of cellular immunity by binding to the Fc segment of the antibody in the virus-antibody complex, which can prevent virus replication and induce cellular immunity.TRIM21 is regulated by ubiquitination and phosphorylation. This dual effect function of degrading viral particles and activation of immune signals is strictly regulated by its own ubiquitination and phosphorylation. In addition, TRIM21 can also work synergistically with the complement system. In this paper, the mechanism of anti-virus and immune function activation in TRIM21 cells, virus vector mediated gene therapy, antibody engineering and TRIM-AWAY technology are reviewed.
