Abstract
Next generation sequencing(NGS)technology has been continuously improved and innovated based on the first generation sequencing technology, and has significant advantages such as high throughput, high speed, high sensitivity, quantification and low cost.Recently, with the rapid development of NGS technology, new DNA typing detection technology and genetic markers have been applied to forensic genetics, providing more scientific and technological methods for DNA polymorphism detection.NGS technology can simultaneously detect a variety of forensic genetic markers such as STR, SNP, mtDNA and Indel, and can obtain more abundant and effective genetic information in the cases such oftrace, degradation, mixed biological samples and complex genetic relationship identifications, which not only promotes the identification efficiency of genetic markers, but also broadens the detection range of DNA identification technology. In this review, the application of NGS technology in forensic genetics, the latest research progress and the problems faced were summarized.
