Chinese expert consensus on the management of day operating rooms in general hospitals (2022 edition)

Abstract
In order to promote the general hospitals to carry out day surgery in a standardi-zed and efficient manner, with grasping the key surgery procedure and elements in the day operating room management, and consolidating the foundation of medical quality and safety, the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Disorders (Xiangya Hospital) and the International Joint Research Center of Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Technology Equipment & Standards organized the relevant experts to formulate the Chinese expert consensus on the management of day operating rooms in general hospitals (2022 edition). The main contents include the priority development direction of day surgery in general hospitals, day operating room management and human resource allocation, day operation area setting, day operating room equipment and surgical instruments configuration, job positions of day operating room, day surgery scheduling, the arrangement principle of surgeon's operation day, the entry time of the first operating patient every day, surgery site identification, pathological diagnosis of tissue samples of patients undergoing day surgery, and allocation of medical auxiliary personnel in day operating room, etc. This expert consensus is applicable to general hospitals at all levels that carry out day surgery, including special day surgery center and day surgery units in common wards.
