Abstract
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a respiratory system disease mainly characterized by irreversible persistent restriction of air flow.It can be caused by long-term interaction between multiple environmental factors and the body′s own factors. The pathogenesis is related to inflammation, protease/anti-protease imbalance, and oxidative stress.Ferroptosis, discovered in recent years, is a kind of cell death caused by the accumulation of iron-dependent lipid hydroperoxides. At present, some studies find that the regulatory mechanism of ferroptosis is related to the occurrence and development of COPD.This article briefly reviews the regulatory mechanism of ferroptosis and its relationship with COPD, so as to provide new findings for future clinical research and development of ferroptosis-based drugs for COPD.
