Abstract
ObjectiveTo study the psychological status of chronic pain patients by analyzing their pain catastrophizing and daily activities, and to provide basis for clinical implementation of personalized psychological intervention and effective management of chronic pain.
MethodsThrough convenience sampling method, 120 chronic patients, in Huaihe Hospital of Henan University from June 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, received questionnaire survey on the general data, pain catastrophizing scale (PCS), EuroQol five dimensions questionnaire (EQ-5D) and brief pain inventory (BPI).
ResultsThe total score of pain catastrophization in 120 chronic patients was (21±11), which was at a medium level, indicating that chronic pain patients had a certain tendency of pain catastrophization in this study. Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between the catastrophizing cognition of pain in chronic pain patients and EQ-5D and BPI (P<0.01). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that the influencing factors of the pain catastrophizing level included anxiety/depression, emotional state, daily life and walking ability in the chronic pain patients.
ConclusionAnxiety, daily living and walking ability positively predicted the level of catastrophizing pain in chronic pain patients. Clinical medical staff should take targeted intervention measures to reduce the negative physiological and psychological effects and improve the patients' quality of life.
