Abstract
With the yearly increase in the proportion of pregnant women of advanced maternal age, the associated pregnancy risks have also become more prominent. In an effort to improve the management of pregnancy in this population within our country, the Society of Perinatal Medicine, Chinese Medical Association and the Obstetrics Subgroup, Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Chinese Medical Association combined already published research evidence and consensus on advanced- maternal-age pregnancy from both domestic and international sources. After several in-depth discussions among experts in China, an expert consensus on pregnancy management in pregnant women at advanced maternal age was formulated. This consensus covers vital issues such as the definition of pregnancy at advanced maternal age, pre-pregnancy preparation, prenatal diagnosis, prevention and treatment of perinatal complications in women with advanced maternal age, as well as the timing and methods for terminating a pregnancy and management during the peripartum period, aiming to provide obstetricians with standardized guidelines for the management of pregnancies at advanced maternal age, thereby enhancing the level of maternal and infant healthcare in this population.
