Abstract
ObjectivesTo summarize the curative effects and adverse effects of maintenance treatment by Bortezomib abdominal subcutaneous injection for multiple myeloma (MM) patients and to explore main points of nursing care.
MethodsFrom July 2013 to August 2015, 18 MM inpatients of the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University were selected by convenience sampling. All of the patients accepted Bortezomib treatment in which Bortezomib was with abdominal subcutaneous injection.
ResultsThe rate of complete remission (CR) as well as very good partial remission (VGPR) in 18 patients was 57.14% during 4 courses of treatment and 64.28% during 8 courses of treatment. The main adverse effects included subcutaneous erythema, gastrointestinal reaction, peripheral neuropathy, neutropenia and thrombocytopenia. There was no patient discontinuing Bortezomib treatment due to related adverse effects through nursing intervention.
ConclusionsBortezomib abdominal subcutaneous injection is used as maintenance treatment for MM with obvious curative effects. Besides, elaborate nursing care is an important guarantee for smooth treatment.
