A qualitative study on the psychological resilience of people living with HIV

Abstract
ObjectiveTo explore the psychological resilience of people living with human immunodeficiency virus (PLHIV) , so as to provide a reference for improving the psychological resilience of PLHIV and promoting them to return to normal life as soon as possible.
MethodsFrom April to July 2019, purpose sampling was used to select 14 cases of PLHIV treated with antiretroviral treatment at a designated acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) clinic and a center for disease control and prevention in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. The in-depth interview was conducted with PLHIV and data analysis was carried out using the method of Colaizzi phenomenology.
ResultsPLHIV psychological resilience was refined into three themes, including acceptance, coping and reconstruction.
ConclusionsBased on the psychological resilience of PLHIV, medical staff can help the infected people to accept the facts of infection as soon as possible and master effective response strategies, and promote the ideal reconstruction of the infected people, and join the work of AIDS prevention and control, and work together to achieve "Zero AIDS".
