Abstract
ObjectiveTo explore the status quo of career maturity in vocational nursing students, and analyze its influencing factors.
MethodsFrom January to February 2021, totally 100 junior vocational nursing students from Changji Vocational and Technical College were selected by convenient sampling and investigated with the General Information Questionnaire, Career Maturity Inventory, and Self-directed Learning Ability Assessment. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors.
ResultsThe total score of the Career Maturity Inventory of 100 vocational nursing students was (108.67±12.34) , and the dimension with the lowest score was career confidence. The results of Pearson correlation analysis revealed that the total score of the Self-directed Learning Ability Assessment was positively correlated with that of the Career Maturity Inventory in vocational nursing students (r=0.375, P<0.001) . The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that whether they were student leaders, whether they had part-time experience, the reasons for choosing nursing majors, whether they understood their employment and development, and their self-directed learning ability were the influencing factors of the career maturity in vocational nursing students (P<0.05) , which could account for 37.3% of the total variation.
ConclusionsThe career maturity level of vocational nursing students is above the average. Nursing college administrators and educators should focus on the individual characteristics of nursing students and provide targeted training to them according to the influencing factors of career maturity, thereby improving the career maturity of nursing students and ensuring the steady development of the nursing team.
