Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of vitamin E combined with clomiphene on adult patients with idiopathic oligospermia and asthenospermia.
MethodsA total of 100 adult patients with idiopathic oligozoospermia and asthenospermia treated with clomiphene in Jiuquan People’s Hospital from January 2019 to January 2021 were selected and included in the control group; another 100 adult patients with idiopathic oligozoospermia and asthenospermia treated with vitamin E combined with clomiphene in the same period were selected and included in the observation group. The levels of sperm activity (sperm concentration, total sperm activity rate, forward sperm activity rate), sex hormones, including testosterone (Ts), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), before treatment and at the end of 3 months of treatment were compared between the two groups. And the adverse reactions of the two groups during treatment were compared.
ResultsAt the end of 3 months of treatment, the sperm concentration, total sperm activity rate and forward sperm activity rate of the two groups were higher than those before treatment, and the above indexes in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P <0.05). At the end of 3-month treatment, the levels of LH, FSH and Ts in the two groups were higher than those before treatment, and those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P <0.05). During the treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions was 10.00% (10/100) in the control group, and 12.00% (12/100) in the observation group, however, there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).
ConclusionsVitamin E combined with clomiphene has a significant effect in the treatment of adult idiopathic oligozoospermia and asthenospermia, which can effectively improve the sperm activity and promote the secretion of sex hormones, without increasing adverse reactions.
