Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical effect of Ilizarov-Ponseti technique on correcting clubfoot deformity.
MethodsA total of 48 cases (62 feet) of clubfoot deformity admitted to Zhengzhou Orthopedic Hospital from January 2015 to December 2020 were selected retrospectively as the study objects, and they were divided into observation group (24 cases, 30 feet) and control group (24 cases, 32 feet) according to the treatment plans. The control group underwent routine correction, but did not strictly follow the draft correction procedure, while the observation group followed the Ilizarov-Ponseti procedure and technical correction. The correction time, time with the frame, complication, and excellent and good rate of joint function during the half-year follow-up were compared between the two groups.
ResultsThe time with the frame in the observation group was longer than that in the control group, but there was no significant difference between the two group ( P>0.05). The correction time and the incidence of complications in the observation group were less than those in the control group (t=2.804, χ2=5.857; allP<0.05). After half a year of follow-up, the excellent and good rate of joint function in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (χ2=5.276, P<0.05).
ConclusionsThe application of the Ilizarov-Ponseti technique in correcting clubfoot deformity can shorten the correction time, reduce the incidence of complications, and improve the rate of good joints.
