Abstract
Ischemic reperfusion injury (IRI) is common in lung transplantation, which is one of the leading causes of complications and death for recipients in lung transplantation. Currently, there is no optimal method for the treatment of lung IRI. Studies have shown that oxidative stress during IRI can damage mitochondrion, further leading to cellular pathological damage. Therefore, clearing oxygen free radical is a promising treatment strategy. Hydrogen is a kind of nontoxic and mild selective reducing gas, ant its application in medical field is more and more extensive. Hydrogen has selective antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects. Therefore, as a new antioxidant, hydrogen offers hope for the prevention and treatment of IRI during lung transplantation.
