Abstract
The novel secretory adipokine named Meteorin-like (Metrnl) related is a protein homologous to the neurotrophic regulator factor Meteorin (Metrn). Studies have found that Metrnl is closely involved in the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism related diseases such as dyslipidemia, obesity, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The mechanism may be related to the induction of beige fat formation, regulation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor δ/γ (PPARδ/γ) pathways, and activation of WNT/β-catenin pathways. Therefore, further explore the role and possible mechanism of Metrnl in glucose and lipid metabolism, in order to improve the understanding of the adipose secretion factor Metrnl, which is expected to be a novel target for the treatment of glucose and lipid metabolism related diseases.
