Clinical practice guidelines for acupoint stimulation as an adjuvant treatment of postoperative pain (2021)

Abstract
Perioperative pain management is a central component of rapid recovery and comfortable medical treatment.It is a proven fact that acupoint stimulation can effectively reduce perioperative pain and reduce the amount of opioids, enhance the recovery of patients after surgery, and raise the patient′s satisfaction.It was initiated by the the Chinese Society of Integrative Anesthesiology and formulated in strict accordance with the " WHO Handbook for Guideline Development" . Selecton of clinical problems was conducted through literature research and expert consensus, and 7 clinical problems were finally identified.Based on the results of the systematic review, comprehensively considering the pros and cons of the evidence, quality of the evidence, patient′s preferences and other resources, 16 recommendations were produced using the Delphi expert consensus method.The main contents include the effectiveness and evaluation methods of acupoint stimulation for perioperative pain management, selection of parameters of clinical procedures, qualifications of practioners and indications, etc., and each recommendation is explained in detail, in order to improve the standardized use of acupoint stimulation in postoperative pain, and provide a reference for domestic anesthesiologists to carry out scientific application of acupoint stimulation as an adjuvant treatment of postoperative pain.
