Abstract
Type Ⅱ innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) are one of the newly discovered members of the innate lymphocyte family.ILC2 cell is thought to differentiate from the Common Lymphoid Progenitor and rely on the transcription factor RORα and GATA-binding factor3 for development, mainly distributed in tissues such as skin, lungs, and intestines.ILC2s are capable of producing Th2-type cytokines including IL-5 and IL-13 in response to IL-25 and IL-33. Meanwhile, ILC2s was able to fulfill vital functions in parasite clearance, anti-virus infection, subsequent tissue repair and airway inflammation. This article reviews the biological characteristics and functions of ILC2s, with particular attention to the role of ILC2s in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
