Current status and influencing factors of nursing knowledge mastering in caregivers of patients with nasal feeding at home

Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the current status of nasal feeding nursing knowledge mastering in main caregivers, and analyze its influencing factors, in order to provide evidence for health education.
MethodsUsing cross section research, the main nasal feeding home caregivers, whose patients sought medical advice in outpatient or discharged form 3 level three class B and 3 level three class A hospitals, were selected by convenient sampling methods to survey and analyzed their knowledge mastering of nasal feeding nursing knowledge with questionnaire.
ResultsThe average score of nasal feeding knowledge was (11.45±2.73) in caregivers with the norm score 60.26 having low mastering; the educational background, length of working experience, the relationship with patients, and whether received the nasal feeding training were the main influencing factors of correct taking nasal feeding (P<0.01).
ConclusionsThe nursing knowledge mastering of nasal feeding in caregivers is not optimistic, so nursing staffs should provide targeted education and teaching according to caregivers′ characteristic, establish community health system, help caregivers to enhance professional level, promote the nutritional improvement of nasal feeding patients, prevent the complications of nasal feeding, so as to provide better service for home patients and enhance their quality of life.
