Abstract
ObjectiveTo explore the effects of continuous nursing based on Information-Knowledge-Attitude-Practice (IKAP) theory in patients with cerebrovascular intervention.
MethodsFrom January 2018 to March 2019, this study selected 210 acute cerebrovascular disease (ACVD) patients with intervention at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University by convenience sampling. All of patients were divided into control group and intervention group according to admission time, 105 cases in each group. Control group carried out routine nursing. On the basis of that, intervention group implemented continuous nursing based on IKAP theory for three months after discharge; and the basic flow included collecting information, imparting knowledge, strengthening concept, promoting action, and following up through WeChat. The effects were evaluated with the Acute Cerebrovascular Disease Knowledge Questionnaire, the Barthel Index and Cerebrovascular Disease Self-management Scale before and after intervention.
ResultsAfter intervention, the awareness rate of knowledge of patients in intervention group was 90.48% (95/105) higher than that (80.00%, 84/105) in control group with a statistical difference (P<0.05) . One, two and three months after intervention, the scores of the Barthel Index of intervention group were (58.37±10.36) , (67.52±9.44) and (81.24±10.59) respectively higher than those [ (55.39±11.34) , (64.30±11.34) and (77.93±9.82) ]of control group with statistical differences (P<0.05) . Besides, the total score of Cerebrovascular Disease Self-management scale of intervention group was (3.80±0.62) statistically higher than that (3.60±0.65) of control group (P<0.05) .
ConclusionsApplication of IKAP based continuous nursing for patients with cerebrovascular intervention can improve the disease knowledge and self-management ability of patients, promote prognosis and rehabilitation, and further perfect the continuous nursing service system.
