Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the efficacy and safety of combined treatment of varicose vein and nonthrombotic iliac venous compression with one stop or two stages procedures.
MethodsThe data of 35 patients undergoing combined treatment of varicose vein and nonthrombotic iliac compression from October 2017 to May 2020 in Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University were retrospectively analyzed. The iliac venous compression was managed with implantation of venous stents and the vein varicosity was operated by high ligation or radiofrequency ablation along with stab phlebectomy. Enrolled patients were divided into one stop and two stages groups.
ResultsAll patients recovered uneventfully after combined treatment with no incidence of DVT. Comparing to preoperation, a significant decrease of CEAP classification during follow-up was observed with no recurrence of vein varicosity. The clinical outcomes during perioperation (DVT, thrombophlebitis, hematoma, ecchymosis, operative wound infection and lymphangitis) and follow-up (occlusion of iliac venous stent, recurrence of vein varicosity and change of CEAP classification) demonstrated no significant difference between the one stop and two stages groups (all P>0.05).
ConclusionCombined treatment of varicose vein and nonthrombotic iliac venous compression with one stop and two stage procedures demonstrated effectiveness and safety, which deserves further promotion.
