Abstract
Acute lung iniury (ALI)/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is an acute respiratory insufficiency caused by diffuse interstitial and alveolar edema.High-mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1), as an important late inflammatory factor in the inflammatory progression of ALI/ARDS, can bind to cell surface receptors such as Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE), activate the downstream pathway, and then induce the transcription of various inflammatory factors.HMGB1-TLR4/RAGE signaling pathway is complex, and the mechanism of action in the ALI/ARDS process is unclear. This paper reviews the research progress of HMGB1-TLR4/RAGE signaling pathway in ALI/ARDS in order to find new therapeutic targets for ALI/ARDS.
