Abstract
Prophylactic vaccines are the most effective means for control the epidemic of infectious diseases.Vaccine adjuvants can enhance the immunogenicity of vaccine antigen and increase the titer of specific antibody.Adjuvants can enhance the ability of antigen presenting cells(APCs) to take and present antigens by interacting with different kinds of Toll like receptors(TLRs), NOD like receptors(NLRs) or cyclic-GMP-AMP synthase(cGAS). However, different kinds of adjuvants may induce a certain bias of CD4+ T cell differentiation into different subtypes due to the activation of different types of pattern recognition receptors(PRR). This review summarized the role and mechanism of adjuvant in activating immune cells to provide reference for the selection and application of vaccine adjuvants.
