Abstract
ObjectiveTo observe the effectiveness of multi-target manual pulsed radiofrequency therapy for cervicogenic headache.
MethodsThirty-seven patients with cervicogenic headache were treated by manual pulsed radiofrequency, from April 2018 to April 2019 in Department of Painology, Jilin Province People's Hospital. The therapeutic targets included degenerative cervical intervertebral disc (1-2 Hz, 20 ms, 80-90 V, ≤55 ℃, 600 s) , cervical dorsal root ganglion (1-2 Hz, 20 ms, 100 V, ≤55 ℃, 300 s) and cervical myofascial (42 ℃, 120 s). Numerical rating scale (NRS) and neck disability index (NDI) and the proportions of cases with NRS≤3 were evaluated before the treatment, and 3 days, 1 month, 6 months, 12 months after the treatment.
ResultsThe NRS M(Q1, Q3) was significantly lower at 3 days 2(1, 2), 1 month 1(0, 1.5), 6 months 0(0, 1), 12 months 1(0, 1) after the treatment than those before the treatment 7(7, 8) (all P<0.05). The NDI score was significantly lower at 3 days, 1 month, 6 months, 12 months after the treatment than those before the treatment (all P<0.05). At 3 days, 1 month, 6 months, 12 months, the proportions of cases with NRS ≤3 were 94.6%, 100.0%, 100.0%, 100.0% respectively. No adverse reactions were found during the treatment and follow-up.
ConclusionThe multi-target pulsed radiofrequency therapy is a safe and effective method for the treatment of cervical headache, with good short-term and long-term efficacy.
