Current situation and demand of specialized development of Traditional Chinese Medicine nursing

Abstract
ObjectiveTo understand the current situation and needs of nursing staff on the development of specialization in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing.
MethodsIn July 2020, the convenient sampling method was used to select 120 nursing staff from 7 tertiary hospitals and 1 secondary hospital in Beijing as the research objects. Through literature search, the questionnaire on the Current Situation and Needs of the Specialized Development of TCM Nursing was self-designed to conduct a questionnaire survey.
ResultsIn this study, electronic questionnaires were used. A total of 120 questionnaires were distributed and 116 questionnaires were returned, of which 114 were valid questionnaires. The results of the survey showed that nurses supported the specialization of TCM nursing and actively practiced TCM nursing measures in their work. A total of 97.37% (111/114) of the nurses had the demand to participate in the TCM specialty certification. The main difficulties in developing the specialized development of TCM nursing were the unclear connotation of TCM nursing, the controversial positioning of the discipline, and insufficient government support.
ConclusionsThe development of the specialization of TCM nursing is the inevitable development of the discipline, and there is a strong demand for professional development and social demand.
