Medical history taking is an essential skill for clinicians. ″Qiewen″, which is an online platform of medical history taking based on WeChat mini program and standardized patients, was designed and applied to solve the problem of insufficient learning resources and improve the teaching effect of medical history taking. In April 2022, a preliminary attempt of medical history taking on the platform was successfully completed among 50 students from China Medical University. After half a month of practice, a questionnaire survey was conducted among the students and 10 teachers on the studying and teaching effects of medical history taking. Of the 49 valid student questionnaires collected, 44(89.8%) students thought it was helpful to increase their interest in learning. Independent learning ability was improved in 45(91.8%) students, 46(93.9%) students believed that it was beneficial to their clinical reasoning, it was useful for the understanding and memorization of theoretical knowledge in 44(89.8%) students, 47(95.9%) students considered the clinical communication ability was improved through the training, 46(93.9%) students believed that it was close to real clinical scenarios. All teachers surveyed believed that the application of this platform to teaching would help stimulate students′ interest in learning and improve their clinical thinking ability and inquiry ability. ″Qiewen″ training platform increases the practice opportunities of students′ consultation, is close to the real clinical situation, is recognized by students and teachers, helps to solve the problem of insufficient consultation teaching resources, and has certain feasibility and innovation in improving students′ history taking skills.
