Abstract
Pain management is one of the essential elements of trauma care in battlefield scenarios. How to provide timely, effective, and safe pain management on the battlefield has been a hot research topic in combat trauma care. In January 2022, the Battlefield Pain Summit hosted by the United States Army Institute of Surgical Research identified key focus areas for battlefield pain research, described the current deficiencies in understanding battlefield pain management, reviewed the current status of battlefield pain research, and identified future directions for research. The consensus statement is instructive in guiding battlefield pain management and provides a new opportunity for military medical experts worldwide to explore battlefield pain management further.
