Abstract
ObjectiveTo understand the current situation and influencing factors of cognitive frailty in hospitalized elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
MethodsData of 290 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were collected. Self-designed general information questionnaires, the type 2 diabetes mellitus self-management behavior scale, simple frailty questionnaire, simple mental state examination scale, clinical dementia rating, activities of daily living scale and 5-item geriatric depression scale were used to investigate elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
ResultsThe detection rate of cognitive frailty was 12.8%. Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that educational level (OR=0.114, P<0.05), sleep duration (OR=0.173, P<0.05), number of chronic complications associated with diabetes (OR= 6.753, P<0.05), depression, (OR=5.706, P<0.05), and self-management behavior (OR=0.01, P<0.05) were the influencing factors.
ConclusionCognitive frailty exists in elderly hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes. Clinical medical workers should pay attention to patients with low education level, lack of sleep, chronic complications associated with diabetes, poor self-management level, and depression, so as to improve the quality of life of the elderly while preventing cognitive frailty.
