Application of internet of things technology in regional disinfection supply center and its impact on device sterilization and medical safety

Abstract
ObjectiveTo analyze the impact of the application of internet of things technology in regional disinfection supply center on the sterilization of devices and medical safety.
MethodsDongguan Eastern Central Hospital applied internet of things technology to its regional disinfection supply center in July 2018.Two hundred items treated with disinfected and sterilized in the disinfection supply center from May 2017 to June 2018 were set as the control group, while 200 items treated with disinfected and sterilized in the disinfection supply center from July 2018 to may 2019 were set as the study group.The two groups were evaluated on service quality, item cleaning quality, disinfection and sterilization quality, supply errors, complaints, medical disputes, and designed a questionnaire of satisfaction. Before and after centralized management, questionnaire star was used to investigate the satisfaction of service objects in the regional disinfection supply center.
ResultsThe quality of disinfection and sterilization service provided by the study group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The study group was better than the control group in cleaning, disinfection, sterilization quality and medical safety, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The satisfaction of the service objects in the study group was better than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).
ConclusionsThe application of internet of things technology in the regional disinfection supply center can improve the qualified rate of sterilization of instruments, reduce the incidence of medical risk events and improve the satisfaction of service departments.
