Abstract
Through literature review, the concept of overprotective behavior in the nursing relationship is analyzed to clarify its specific concept in the field of nursing. Walker and Avant conceptual analysis were applied for the analysis, to clarify the defining attributes, antecedents, consequences and empirical measurement tools of overprotection, and to supplement the embedded mid-domain theoretical model. In the field of nursing, the literature on overprotection focuses on two types of caregiving behavior, that is, parent-child care and caregiver care-patient care. Its defining attributes include perceived vulnerability; potential risk aversion; unnecessary shelter or excessively restrictive; passive dependent character development.Conceptual analysis can help caregivers identify the conceptual characteristics of overprotection in order to guide caregivers to adopt supportive behaviors to provide care and promote the physical and mental health of both caregivers.
