Research progress in diagnosis and prevention of PURA syndrome

Abstract
PURA syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant disease characterized by mental retardation, hypotonia and speech motor retardation, with a high risk of recurrence and serious harm. The disease is mostly caused by heterozygous mutation of PURA gene in patients and is mostly found by whole exome sequencing(WES). There are few related studies on this disease, and the phenotype of patients varies greatly. So, it is often tricky to diagnose clinically, which brings many difficulties to early prevention and treatment. This review focuses on the structure and function of PURA gene and the research progress in diagnosis and prevention of PURA syndrome, in order to improve people’s understanding of this rare disease and provide useful reference for clinical diagnosis and prevention practice.
