Abstract
YRNA, discovered nearly 40 years ago, is a highly conserved class of small non-coding RNAs, but the function is still under investigation. New research shows that YRNA is an important factor in the replication of chromosomal DNA in human nuclei. With the development of sequencing technology, more and more research has provided us with more information about YRNA. This paper reviews the types of YRNA molecules, summarizes the new concepts of the biological functions of YRNA molecules, introduces the current research status of YRNA and YRNA-derived small RNAs, as well as their roles and potential significance in pathogenesis of several diseases including tumors, and new perspectives for future research. We aim to provide a reference for future research related to YRNA.
