Abstract
ObjectiveTo compare and analyze the treatment effects of retroperitoneal laparoscopic pyelolithotomy (RLP) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in patients with single renal calculi.
MethodsA retrospective study was performed on 65 patients with single renal calculi, who received minimally invasive surgery in the urology department of our hospital from January 2019 to July 2021. According to different surgical methods, they were divided into RLP group (n=31) and PCNL group (n=34). Some surgical characteristics were compared between the two groups, including the operation time, estimated blood loss, stone clearance rate, average length of stay, hospitalization cost and postoperative complications.
ResultsRLP outperformed PCNL in estimated blood loss, stone clearance rate, average length of stay, and postoperative complications rate (all P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in operation time and hospitalization cost between the two groups (all P>0.05).
ConclusionsThis retrospective study shows that RLP is safer and more effective than PCNL, and can be the preferred option of minimally invasive treatment in patients with single renal calculi.
