To study the antibacterial effects of Jinqiao Reduqing granules and Jinqiao Reduqing spray drying powder in vitro, and to compare the differences between the two terms of Jinqiao Reduqing.

The minimun inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) of Jinqiao Reduqing granules and Jinqiao Reduqing spray drying powder on common Gram bacteria were detected by plate count method. The common Gram bacteria included Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Branhamellacatarrhalis, Haemophilus influenzae, and Haemophilus parainfluenzae) and Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumonia).

By inoculating 10⁵ CFU/ml of bacterial solution, two terms of Jinqiao Reduqing produced by different technologies both had good antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Haemophilus parainfluenzae, also had some antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Branhamellacatarrhalis, Escherichia coli (without ESBLs), Staphylococcus aureus (without β-lactamase), and Staphylococcus aureus (with MSSA), however, had poor antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli (with ESBLs), Staphylococcus aureus (with β-lactamase), Staphylococcus aureus (with MRSA), and Enterobacter faecalis. At the same dosage, Jinqiao Reduqing spray drying powder had better antibacterial activity against Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli (without ESBLs), and Staphylococcus aureus (without β-lactamase) than Jinqiao Reduqing granules.

Both of Jinqiao Reduqing spray drying powder and Jinqiao Reduqing granules have certain antibacterial effects. At the same dosage, the inhibition effect of Jinqiao Reduqing spray drying powder on some strains is better than the latter.
